City Lights Studio, LLC is a modern wedding & portrait photography studio specializing in elegant images with a creative twist and photojournalistic flair, located in the heart of the downtown Buffalo. The name City Lights Studio plays homage to Buffalo being the City of Light, as well to our urban location and the original root of the word "photography", meaning "to write with light".
City Lights Studio, LLC is owned by photographer Erica Eichelkraut. Always fascinated by art, light and color, Erica has had an interest in photography since a very young age. The first time she saw an image appear in the developer in her high school darkroom, she was officially hooked. She bought her first 'real' camera when she was fifteen, had a photograph published on the front page of The Buffalo News at sixteen and has won various awards and contests since, including the Olympus/Photo District News VisionAge Award.
After graduating from RIT, she moved to Miami where she learned to work with natural light to create gorgeous images & try her hand at fashion photography. She took a break to enjoy a Buffalo summer in 2008, and hasn’t left since. She fell head over heels for this city, and is now a true believer in Buffalo.
Erica is a portrait photographer to the core. Whether she’s photographing friends, family members, celebrities or total strangers, she enjoys the chance to connect through the lens & capture the experience.
Each shoot is different, filled with new challenges, new chances to create and new people to meet. Because of this, she stays fresh and excited about the work that she does; a passion that translates into her images. You can see highlights of her most recent shoots on her blog. Erica also manages the MAIN(ST)UDIOS building & gallery, works to promote the 500 Block, publishes NOMAD an art & literary magazine featuring local creatives, and hosts WAM, a monthly Writers/ Artists/ Musicians Showcase. Erica is also a board member for Buffalo First and the photographer for Big Brothers Big Sisters of WNY. Erica enjoys working on personal projects & collaborating with select organizations.
