I’ve been lucky enough to photograph this sweet little crew a few times now, and have loved seeing them grow (you can view their last session here.) I couldn’t wait to meet their newest little lady, Lauren, and see her with her big bros. Like pretty much every family session ever, the kids were not really into posing and wanted to do their own thing. Michelle & Jordan were happy to just let the kids be themselves (and I’m always¬†happy to do, as it’s when the best images happen!) Can’t wait to see you stinkers again soon ūüôā

Purple gowns, crystal crowns, tear-filled vows, wild dancing, s’mores bars, and the coolest cakes we’ve ever seen… These are just a FEW of the fabulous things we were invited to capture during Chris & Alexa’s day! And a beautiful day it was! The weather called for rain, but we were gifted with sunny skies and magical light, perfect for the lovely backdrops at Avanti Mansion.

I photographed this same family in this same spot a few years ago for Alexa’s sister’s wedding, and was so thrilled when they brought us back. Even though much of this day would be the same as Casey & Nico’s wedding, Alexa & Chris truly made their wedding their own! They had a stunning ceremony in the sunken garden, and a wild reception in the tent (so perfectly purple, flawlessly decorated by Alexa’s mom). They danced the night away with all of their guests, and didn’t seem to care about a thing except being there together. I can’t wait for you to see!

But before we jump into their beautiful images, I wanted to share one thing…

At even the craziest of weddings, there’s a moment that is so special to me. And at the end of every single wedding, I take that moment, I tuck into my mind, and try to hold onto it. It may be a line from your vows or a secret look exchanged that makes me feel a burst of love for my own husband all over again, or a kiss on your grandmother’s cheek that makes me want to run and call my own, or a moment during the parent dances that gets me dreaming about the day we will be up there, spinning our babies around…

Anyways, I know these moments have nothing at all to do with me, but I always feel a connection. This wedding, Chris’ dad gave the most lovely speech, and ended it with a thought that I cannot escape. I think about it every time I show my children something new, no matter how silly or mundane it is. I’ll leave his quote below for everyone to enjoy. Chris, please thank your father for these words, and for giving us all *that* moment.

“Love is finding your partner. Someone you can live for, and with. Love is sharing experiences, and enjoying them twice as much; through your own eyes, and theirs. In that sense, love lets you live twice.

One month ago, we were busy celebrating with these two! Sam & Mike had the most beautiful day for their wedding. We started with prep at The Hotel @ The Lafayette , where they chose to do a First Touch. They met in the hallway of the hotel, and took a minute to just hold hands (without seeing each other!) It was so sweet, and I love that this a such a growing trend right now! A First Look is not right for all couples, but a First Touch is a great alternative. This sneaky way of taking a little bit of time together before the start of a crazy day sure is sweet, and still saves all the surprise for the walk down the aisle.

After a beautiful ceremony at St. Mark’s, we headed to The Albright Knox and Delaware Park area for their photos. It’s so nice to when my wedding clients remain themselves on their big day. It’s so easy to get lost in the stress of it all, but not these two! They shared so sweet many moments together, cracking each other up. They were laughing all day (plus they’re gorgeous, and the light was perfect.. They made our job easy!) We could have been out there all day shooting, but we had a party to get to! Sam & Mike hosted a gorgeous reception in the Marquis Ballroom of The Hotel @ The Lafayette, complete with tear-filled speeches and wild dancing! It was one for the books; scroll down to see!

When I first met Lauren & Paul, I was so excited to hear about their wedding day plans (and their venue choice!) I have been dying to get back to¬†The Red House in Cassadaga ever since I first shot there a few years ago. It’s such a dreamy property for a wedding, with a huge house for bridal prep, lovely ceremony spots, photo locations galore and a big barn to dance the night away. Lauren & Paul opted for a simple day, full of family and friends. They had a sweet outdoor ceremony on the lawn, officiated by Paul’s mother, which was an extra special touch. After photos around the beautiful grounds, we headed up to the barn for the party!

Paul & Lauren surprised each other with a song for their first dance; they didn’t know which song they each chose, and they danced to them both. It was so sweet! After dancing the night away, we headed outside for sparklers and a lovely goodbye. P&L, thank you for sharing your day with us! We loved being there to capture their story.

Gold sparkling shoes, a t-rex cake, woodland creatures, and oh so much more. Laura & Sam’s wedding was full of whimsy and FUN, and we loved being there to capture it all. The girls started with prep at¬†Salon Elizabeth, while the boys hung at The Shores.¬†This bridal party was a blast;¬†the boys rocked their custom¬†Bureau¬†suits, while Laura loved her time with her girls (who were all from Australia, and flew across the globe to celebrate with her!)

We journeyed to¬†The Buffalo Launch Club¬†for their ceremony & reception, where they were married under the lighthouse. Their ceremony was full of special touches including a Scottish hand fasting, a Spanish coin giving and a lot of laughter (especially when Laura vowed to always share her french fries, and quoted Outkast when she told Sam she’d love him forever, ever, forever, ever).

The whole day was full of magic.I think one of my favorite moments of the day, was right after their first kiss, when Sam & Laura took a minute to themselves, to just soak it all in, before walking down the aisle as husband & wife. We had gorgeous light for their portraits, and especially loved the lantern release at the end of the night. We left feeling like we had known them for years, and that says so much about who they are as a couple.

Aren’t they the cutest? And just in case you wanted to find them any more adorable, read their advice for future brides & grooms below :

“For the bride I would echo the advice given to me… Just enjoy the day and what ever happens, happens. You only get one wedding day so enjoy every second of it.” -Laura

“There is no reason to be nervous. You are with the person you love, in front of your friends and family (and if nothing else, you look damn good doing it!” – Sam
